Christine Choate

Christine Choate is a native Austinite and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.  She has enjoyed over 20 years of success in all aspects of real estate.  Her accomplishments began with purchasing numerous rental properties in Austin, then remodeling and constructing properties from the ground up, later personally purchasing and selling over 8 million in investment properties, working as a top producing real estate agent, and finally owning and managing a high volume real estate firm employing over 90 realtors.

In 1989, Ms. Choate purchased her first of many investment properties in central Austin.  Renovations included adding square footage and Ms. Choate acted as general contractor hiring and supervising contractors during the remodel and construction process. This led to her extensive knowledge of foundation work, roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, tiling and all facets of structural and cosmetic work.

Currently Ms. Choate owns Horizon Realty, which she established in 1999, and now employs over 100 real estate agents.  Always interested in improving ability and knowledge, she thrives on helping her agents in generating new business and facilitating transactions, as well as holding hundreds of classes with innovative and productive concepts.  She is an advocate of continuing education regarding new real estate laws, contracts, and ethics.  Her company has grown due to word of mouth and an outstanding reputation.

Consequently, over the years, Horizon Realty’s results have consistently outperformed the market standard.  The company’s sales volume has demonstrated consistent and solid performance year after year as the company has brokered hundreds of millions of dollars in commercial and residential real estate.

Ms. Choate consistently shares her knowledge with the realtors who work for her, as well as the real estate community in general.  She has given speeches to the University of Texas Finance Association advocating entrepreneurship and the benefits of investing in real estate.  She has made numerous presentations to the Austin Institute of Real Estate and Champions School of Real Estate.

Ms. Choate has been an active member of the Real Estate Council of Austin, Women’s Council of Realtors, Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee, Austin Board of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors.  Over the years, she has served on various committees including the Austin Board of Realtors Governmental Affairs Committee, ByLaws Committee, Budget Committee and Nominating Committee for CEO of the Austin Board of Realtors, as well as served as Membership Chair for the Entrepreneur’s Organization.

In 2012 Ms. Choate received her CRS (Council of Residential Specialists) designation, the highest credential awarded to realtors nationwide.  Less than 3% of realtors in the U.S. have received this prestigious certification.  Ms. Choate presently resides on the CRS Board serving as Secretary to the organization.

Through her company, Ms. Choate has sponsored programs such as the Coats for Kids drive, Soles for Souls and Capital Area Food Bank.  She has also contributed to the People’s Promise Foundation, American Youthworks programs and Children’s USA Swim-A-Thon.  In 2008 she travelled to India with the Miracle Foundation helping with several of the orphanages in the southern region of the country.

Cindy’s ability to transform a disciplined approach to a new market or category is nothing new. Komen for the Cure (formerly the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation).

Edith Personette

As Chairman Emeritus, Personette Group Founder Edith Personette provides a wealth of historical knowledge and insight into the Houston high-rise category to the leadership team. While taking some time to enjoy the retirement she so richly earned, she continues to network with colleagues in the industry and has an active interest in Houston’s ever-changing landscape. Anyone who knows Edith would understand her continued involvement after over 30 years of leading the Personette Group (formerly Personette & Associates), which she founded exclusively for the marketing of high-rise, loft, town home developments and garden condominiums.

Edith’s real estate marketing background began with a prominent Houston advertising agency, where she rapidly gained recognition for her expertise in the marketing of residential condominium and townhome properties throughout Texas. In addition to her strategic direction of cutting-edge advertising and public relations campaigns, she developed training programs for on-site agents, Realtor programs, and innovative promotions, all of which contributed to the successful entrée of high rise residential homes to Houston.

In 1986, she redirected this wealth of knowledge and experiences at Centeq, the real estate company she founded which is now credited with turning around Houston’s then depressed residential high-rise market. Through creativity and persistence, she helped increase annual market demand for high-rise residences by more than 2,550 percent from $6 million to $153 million. Centeq Realty grew rapidly on the heels of this remarkable success. In 1995, Centeq expanded into the single-family real estate market and became Morgan Personette Properties. When Heritage Texas Properties acquired the single family division of Morgan Personette in mid-2000, Edith returned to her passion for marketing high-rise, lofts, garden condominiums and townhome developments by establishing Personette & Associates.

Edith received her real estate license from the Texas Real Estate Commission in 1985 and is a member of the Houston Association of Realtors. She has also been Adjunct Professor of Business and Economics at Houston Baptist University and a guest-marketing lecturer at Texas A&M University. In addition, her works have been published in ADWEEK, Salesman’s Opportunity, the Houston Business Journal, and Houston Chronicle.

Personette served as a member of The Land Committee for  the prestigious Houston Parks Board, and as both a board member of the Ronald McDonald House and as past president of the Friends of the Ronald McDonald House. She remains active with Ronald McDonald House.  She has also served as chairman of the Baylor 10 Steering Committee, a support group for Baylor College of Medicine fundraising. She is a founding member of Baylor’s Partnership. Personette supports Methodist Hospital, Parks,  and the American Heart Association Guild. She has been recognized twice in Who’s Who in American Women and was honored by the Houston YWCA as a “Woman of Achievement” for her Real Estate accomplishments.
